Building wooden shelves in a closet.
Cut 1 x 12 pine board to desired length equal to the width of your closet.
Place shelving pieces in the location you want to assemble them.
Put all side diy pine shelving brackets on following steps 6 10 12.
Consider how deep you want them to be and what materials you ll need to buy in order to make them deeper.
If you are building straightforward shelves you also need to add wood supports along the back wall of the closet.
Again don t forget the level.
Simply cut another 1 x2 board the length of your shelf minus 3 inches to accommodate the side supports and screw it to the studs along the back wall of the closet.
For example if your shelving material is a full 16 inches wide keep the top shelf at that width and rip the supporting partitions to 15 3 4 inches.
One quarter inch is a good reveal at each level of the closet.
If you want deeper closet shelves you ll either need to stack boards together to make it wider or you ll need to buy a large sheet of 4 x 8 plywood and cut out the size you want.
Put wood glue on the diy brackets drill pilot hole near the back corner of pine wood board and diy shelving bracket.
